I am a string bass player with jazz and classical training (BM in Jazz Studies), who has recently relocated to Boston. I was educated in San Diego, having earned his Bachelor of Music in Jazz studies and Master of Arts in Historical Musicology from SDSU in the 90s and early 2000s. I have been a college/university lecturer and studio instructor since 1999.
I am most comfortable playing jazz, but I was classically trained and have performed with full-size and chamber orchestras, in pit orchestras for opera and theater, and in rock/alternative bands, on and off, throughout my performing career that started in the late-80s. During my undergrad and grad careers, I performed with Southern California jazz artists such as Louis Bellson, Bill Hollman, Ernie Watts, Kim Richmond, and Pete Christlieb.
