An avid chamber musician and solo recitalist, cellist Eugene Kim has given solo performances throughout Korea, England, Italy and his native United States, including such venues as Carnegie Recital Hall and Jordan Hall. His chamber music collaborations have included Raphael Hillyer, Bayla Keyes, Marcus Thompson, Gervase de Peyer and Mark O‘Connor. An active Boston-area performer, he has appeared with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, and has been guest principal cellist with the Boston Classical Orchestra, and the Pro Arte Chamber Ensemble.
In addition to his serving on the faculties of the Longy School of Music, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the New England Conservatory Preparatory Division, Eugene was formerly a member of the faculties of UMASS/Boston and Brandeis University. Recently, Mr. Kim completed a term as Artistic Director of Project STEP, a string training program for minority string players. Mr. Kim received his A.B. magna cum laude with highest honors from Harvard University, and a master‘s degree from New England Conservatory. His teachers have included Andres Diaz, Colin Carr, Laurence Lesser, Carter Brey and Mihail Jojatu.
